At the ACVV Khayalethu Oliver House, however – the age group varies from 18 yrs to 21yrs of age. Here the aim is to source the adequate skills programme or Apprenticeship over an extended period of time that will enable the young men to re-integrate into society in a skilled and productive way, while effectively being able to provide for themselves and hopefully for their own families some day. During their stay in the ACVV Khayalethu Oliver House, it is not just about finding these young men the correct skill, or apprenticeship – but also about learning valuable life skills such as social integration and etiquette in the work environment, restaurant and home environment as far as budgeting, obtaining their learners and drivers license and other related responsibilities in and around living and running a home.
ACVV Khayalethu Youth Centre and ACVV Khayalethu Oliver House, is a small children’s home and half way house for former street boys and then later on, for those boys to move on to the ACVV Khayalethu Oliver (Halfway) house for the said continued education based largely on life skills and employment related issues.
